Abby Zeller died June 16, 2015, just as she had livedas one in a million. Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease took her life in a few short weeks, but it couldnt take her sense of humor.
Abby was born on April 1, 1935, and lived most of her life in New Jersey. She worked as a secretary, retiring after 21 years from her position with Manasquan (NJ) High School in 1999. She moved to Ogden in 2002.
Well remember her shining white hair and blue eyes, bingo and bridge, cross-stitch and leaving her TV on all night. She had strong opinions and wasnt shy about sharing them. She loved a good laugh and her innumerable catalogs. Her favorite meal would have included Jersey corn and tomatoes, onion rings, deviled eggs, lentil soup, macaroni and cheese, and roast leg of lamb.
Abbys children and grandchildren are: Susan (Gary) Smith, Layton; Carol (Paul) Volk, Colts Neck, NJ; David (Connie) Zeller, Freehold, NJ; and Katie and Ben Smith and Hayden, Matthew, and Jack Volk. Abbys nephews, Cotten and Topher Smith, and their families live in New Hampshire. Also saying good-bye are many friends from the Congregational United Church of Christ and Kitty-Cat, who has found a new home.
The caring staff of Apple Village Assisted Living and the attentive, compassionate doctors, nurses, and CNAs of the fifth floor of McKay-Dee Hospital helped Abbyand her familythrough her last weeks.
