Alan Ray Story's Obituary

Alan Ray Story, our loving husband, dad, son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah after recently being diagnosed with a brain stem tumor. Alan was born on April 21, 1969 in Price, Utah to LaVaun and Gerald Story. He grew up in Price where he graduated from Carbon High School in 1987 and later graduated with his Associates Degree from the College of Eastern Utah. Alan has always enjoyed sports and while in high school he enjoyed being the manager of the boys basketball team. Alan was also an avid scouter earning his Eagle Scout award and later on helping his own son earn his Eagle Scout award. One of Alans highlights of his life was serving a mission for the LDS church in Adelaide, Australia from 1988-1990. He made lifelong friends with the people he served as well as his missionary companions. Although many years have passed, his relationships from his mission have remained strong. Alan attended Weber State University in Ogden, Utah where he met Kimberly Hadley and her daughter Ashley. Alan and Kim were married on December 10, 1993 in the Ogden LDS Temple. Alan and Ashley had an instant connection and he immediately assumed the role of a kind and loving father. Two years later in 1995, Alan had the privilege of adopting Ashley and having her sealed to Alan and Kim in the Ogden LDS Temple. Alan and Kim made their home in South Ogden where Alan continued to attend Weber State University. Alan graduated from Weber State with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work and Sociology. Alan was a hard worker and later went back to school to earn his Masters degree. In 1999, their son Matt was born. Alan filled Matts life with numerous adventures including fishing, shooting, ball games, geo-caching, road trips and more fishing. Matt is Alans pride and joy. Alan let everyone know what Matt was involved in and how proud he was of Matt. Alan worked for Questar Gas for 25 years where he developed many lifelong friendships. Alan will be greatly missed.
