Alfonso P. Martinez, 82 passed away on June 27, 2013 at the George Wahlen VA Home in Ogden, Utah after a long challenging battle with dementia. He was born June 4, 1931 in Park View, New Mexico to Benjamin and Piedad Martinez.
He served in the US Army and fought in the Korean War. He married Antonia Valdez in July 1955, and had two daughters Janice (Derek) Ulibarri and Jackie Martinez (Billy Orosco).
He was a Supervisor at HAFB in Air Freight where he retired with awards and honors for his many years of service. He was an avid gardener with an immaculate garden with fruit trees and vegetables he loved to share and donate year after year.
Surviving are his daughters and grandchildren Desi Salas, Justin Tafoya, Nia Martinez, Jayde Salas, Saige Salas. His brother Sam and sister Rita, many loving nieces, nephews, cousins.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Tony, his parents, brothers Jim and Arthur Martinez.
A Rosary will held at 9:30 A.M. and a Mass will begin at 10:00 A.M. at St Joseph Catholic Church 514 24th Street in Ogden on Monday, July 1, 2013. Join the family for the inurnment at the Evergreen Memorial Park 100 North Monroe Blvd with Veterans Honors after the Mass.
