Obituary

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Allene Combe Peterson Campbell on June 29, 2026, in Chino Valley, AZ, surrounded by her loving son, K.C., and daughter-in-law, Rashell, in the comfort of her home. Allene was born on December 20, 1932, in Ogden, Utah, to Lee and Mabel Combe. She was 93 years old. She wanted to outlive her mother, who passed at 92. Mom thought she would live forever. She was blessed with good health for most of her life. Allene was raised in Huntsville, Utah. She loved the Valley and the outdoors.

Allene was preceded in death by her husband, Lewellyn Peterson, married on March 14, 1952, and her 2nd husband, Walter Campbell, married on May 13, 1974. Her stepdaughter Tori Campbell, her loving parents Lee and Mabel Combe, and her brothers Jim and Ray Combe. Also, her beloved dogs, Utah & Rusty.

Allene is survived by her children: Kaylene (Kim) Groll of Syracuse, Blake (Sherrie) Peterson of Plain City, Wayne Peterson of North Ogden, Kenton (CleAnne) Peterson of Huntsville, Dorene (Bart Lundgreen) Roberts of West Haven, Douglas (Connie) Peterson of Star Valley, WY, and K.C. (Rashell) Campbell of Mayer, AZ; Stepchildren, Destry and Denise Campbell; 12 grandchildren, 2 bonus grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren; and her siblings: Beth Simonsen, Paul (Gayla) Combe, and Scott (Sherrie) Combe.

Allene graduated from Weber High School. She took great pride in the various roles she held throughout her working career. She worked at the old Grand Central in Ogden. She managed a convenience store on the historic Route 66 in Seligman, Arizona, where she enjoyed meeting individuals and families traveling through the town and also getting acquainted with local patrons. In her earlier years of working, she was a cook at the school for the deaf and blind.

Allene was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Ogden, Utah Branch, and the Linus Club in Chino Valley, Arizona. She enjoyed the times she spent in her youth riding horses. During her marriage to Walt, she participated in rodeos with her horse Charlie, barrel racing.

Allene found great joy in sewing, crocheting, and embroidering. Her retirement at age 77 marked the beginning of a new chapter in which she dedicated her talents to crafting crochet animals, sewing book bags, and other items for homeless school children in Chino Valley. Her skills as a seamstress were admired by many. She was very talented, sewing many articles of clothing, drapes, steering wheel covers, and other items she created out of old jeans. She loved to garden, and after she could not keep up with a garden, she had a sweet neighbor who would leave a potted tomato plant on her porch each spring. This made her so happy! Then, in later years, she would stand out on her porch waiting for her neighbor to come home from work; this was a sign that she needed to go to the store or get her mail from the post office. Thank you, David, for watching out for her!

Above all, Allene was a woman content with life, embodying happiness at every stage. She found joy in solitude, filling her days with meaningful activities that brought her peace.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Dorene extends her heartfelt gratitude to K.C. for his unwavering presence and support during Allene’s years in Arizona.

We, as her children, will miss her. May she rest in peace and be joined with family members, friends, and others whom she loves.
