Ann Frances Ross's Obituary

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother passed away on June 17, 2015 surrounded by her loved ones. Ann was born November 27, 1917, in Riverdale, New York. She was the daughter of Howard C. Spracher and Ann M. McEwen. She married the love of her life John F. Ross, Jr. at St. Joesphs Catholic Church in Ogden, November 3, 1942. John passed away January 27, 1981. Ann was an active member of St. Marys Parish. Anns love for her friends was evident in the friendships she treasured. She was active in many charity and civic organizations during her life. In her early years she was a counselor for Girls State at USU. She served as President of the following organizations: Benevolent Patriotic Order of the Does, Ogden Drove #27, Lady Elks, American Business Womens Association, Mt. Ogden-Ben Lomond Chapter, where she was the recipient of the Woman of the Year Award, Cosmopolitan Club, charter member of the Roy Senior Citizens, Ogden Eagle Auxiliary, Rocky Mountain Air Force, Footprinters and American Legion Auxiliary Associations. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1936 and attended the Smithsonian Business College and the Dictaphone Corporation in New York. She was employed with the US Government at the Ogden Arsenal in Procurement and the DDO. After her family was raised, Ann enjoyed working for Auerbachs and Castletons department stores in downtown Ogden. Ann possessed a sweet spirit and was always there to help those in need. Her memory will be our keepsake and we will forever keep her in our hearts. She is survived by one son and two daughters: Howard J. Ross, Roy, Patricia Ann Burback (Tom), Ogden and Mary L. Hurlburt (Lance), Layton; two grandchildren: Debbie Lynn Burback, Rock Springs, WY. and Cody Mathew Hurlburt (Elisha) Layton; and one great grandchild, Sabrina Kay Hurlburt whom she all dearly loved. Preceded in death was her loving husband, John; her angel daughter, Joel Marie; and her brother, William J. Spracher. Her family would like to thank the staff at Fairfield Village Assisted Living, Bristol Hospice, and the George Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home for their beautiful, loving care of our sweet mom. Oh Lord, my God, the time has come for me to be with you for all eternity. I only pray for those I leave behind, show them the way so that they all can find a life thats filled with happiness and love, For I will be watching from up above. Oh Lord my God, I put my trust in Thee, Watch over them, please God do this for me. Family will greet friends Monday, June 22, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah with a Vigil Service and Rosary Service beginning at 7:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 10:00 am at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 Chapel Street, Layton, Utah. Interment at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah. Services under the direction of Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.
