Arlow Merlin Fenstermaker, age 94, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 30, 2014. Arlow was born February 6, 1920 in Ogden, Utah. He was the first of three children born to Josephine and Merlin Fenstermaker.
He graduated from Ogden High School in 1939. Then from 1941 to 1945, he served in the 160th E. Company Infantry 40th Division. He spent most of his time serving as a medic. As a medic, he traveled to Rome, Naples, Tunis and Sicily. In 1944 he took 2nd place in the Allied Swimming Championships in Rome. Arlow loved to tell stories about this time in his life and enjoyed it greatly.
Shortly after he returned, he married Louise and together they had one daughter, Susan. In 1952, he married Veda "Jonnie" Johnston. They spent 60 happy years together, often teasing each other and cracking jokes. Everyone enjoyed Arlows sense of humor. They spent most of their time golfing, but not in the same foursome. His favorite pastime was gambling; his game of choice was Keno. He went to Wendover, Nevada for the past 20+ years. He was also a proud Democrat and loved talking politics with friends.
Arlow loved all of his children, grandchildren and great grand children very much. He is survived by his wife Jonnie, and his children Susan, Gary Olsen, Brent J. Fenstermaker, Judy Rae Fenstermaker and Honeybee Jonnette Brenchley, 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Preceded in death by Scottie Fenstermaker, McCade Brenchley and Courtney Joseph Florence.
A Celebration of Arlows Life will be held at Leavitts Mortuary on Sunday, December 7, 2014 between 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Leavitts Mortuary is located at 836-36th Street Ogden, UT 84403.
