Arnold Marinus Scheer, 95, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017, in his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 5, 1922, to Daniel Marinus Scheer and Sjoukje vanSolkema. He married Mimi Schot on November 13, 1946, in Amsterdam. Arnold and Mimi immigrated to America on May 10, 1950, and were sealed in the SLC Temple on April 24, 1951. They were married for 71 years.
He worked for the Continental Bakery for 32 years. He was a member of the LDS church, held the position of High Priest, was the financial clerk for eight bishoprics, and also held other various callings.
He sang in three choirs, one choir in Holland and two in America. He was known for his beautiful tenor voice.
Arnold is survived by his wife, Mimi; a niece, Carla (Leonard) Petersen, whom he raised; six grandchildren, Kent Ward, Jeffrey (Joy) Ward, Kris Ward, Shelley (Quinten) Miller, DeOn (Russ) Brown, Andrea (Edward) Jeppson; brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Joanne Schot; 15 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, four brothers, and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 1, 2017, at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah. Friends may visit with family on Thursday, November 30, 2017, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and again on Friday, December 1, 2017, prior to services from 9:30 to 10:45 am.
Services under the direction of Leavitts Mortuary.
Interment at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park.
