"Back in the Saddle Again"Arthur "Joe" Mora-September 19, 2012Joe completed his earthly journey on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born on September 12, 1942 in Clearfield, Utah, the son of Guadalupe Sr. and Maria DeLeon Mora. He attended Ogden City schools. Joe married Verlene Brower who he referred to as, "My Love"on November 18, 1963 in SLC, Utah. Together, they have three daughters: Jolene "Love" (Ron) Thornock; Traci "Bud"(Durk) Murdock; and Tiffany "Kid" (Joel) Perry. He was a true family man and had a special relationship with each member of his family. His biggest joy was looking forward to the holidays, teaching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren his culture and traditions during those special occasions. He touched people from all walks of life with his genuine personality. He was employed at DDOU as a heavy equipment operator, retiring after 29 years. He then became employed as a heavy equipment operator for Kapp Construction where he worked for 15 years. He received many awards for his outstanding dedication and work ethic. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church where he will always be remembered each Christmas because of his efforts in completing the Nativity scene, which was very special to him. He was an avid outdoorsman. His true passion was spending time with his beloved horse, Cruz. One of Joes most prideful moments was when he followed his fathers dream to represent his culture by riding in the July 24th Pioneer Day Parade. Joe and his brother Albert won 1st Place as "Best Showmanship" in 2005.He was a member of the Mountainman Rendezvous Club where he excelled in creating beautiful leatherwork. This was a passion which he continued to share with his family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and practicing martial arts. He donated many hours to the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. At the time of his death he was working on completing his "34" Ford Coupe which was left to him by his deceased brother Lupe. Joe is survived by his wife and three daughters, eight grandchildren: Hillary, Shantell and Makenzie Thornock; Chazney, Colton, and Bridger Murdock; and Jayden and London Perry; three great-grandchildren: Brenlee Murdock; Paizlee and Ayvree Christian, with two more on the way. Joe is also survived by six brothers: Ramon, Ruben, David (Ernie), Eddie (Jean), Richard (Ceria), and Albert. Joe cherished the good times, laughs and memories that they shared in "The Shed". Three sisters: Olga (Jim) Salas, Yolanda Flores, and Kathy Mora. Your strength and love given to our family meant more to him than you will ever know. Joe Also surviving are many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Lupe Jr., sisters Dolores (Lola) Muniz, Julia Doren, and Cecilia (Cil) Rocha; and mother-in-law, Wanda Knight. The family would like to express appreciation to the staff at Alpha Omega Hospice for their loving care, with special thanks to Vlad, Cece, and Leann. We would also like to give gratitude to the neighbor ward members, for all the maintenance and meals. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at St. Marys Catholic Church, 4050 S. 3900 W. West Haven. Family will meet friends on Monday, September 24, 2012 from 6-8 p.m., at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden with Rosary held at 5:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park.
