Asael ElRey Dilworth returned to the arms of his Savior on Sunday, February 5th, 2023 in Cedar City, Utah. Asael, known as El Rey by his family and Ace by his friends, was born February 11th, 1945 in Gooding, Idaho. He was the youngest child and only son of Asael Ernest Dilworth and Fawn Nebeker Dilworth.
Following his graduation from Hansen High School, ElRey served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northern States Mission. Upon his return, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from his military service in 1970 and immediately began working for the Federal Civilian Service while also earning an Associates of Science degree from College of Southern Idaho in 1971. ElRey spent the bulk of his 38-year civil service career with the 309th Maintenance Wing at Hill Air Force Base and received a variety of honors and awards for excellence.
A man of simple pleasures, ElRey loved animals and adopted many dogs and cats that he loved with his whole heart. He always looked up to his dad and enjoyed building and woodworking like his dad taught him. He was a passionate collector of model vehicles, especially tractors and heavy equipment, and spent many hours designing and crafting lifelike dioramas and displays, which were enjoyed by all who saw them.
ElRey is preceded in death by his father and mother, his oldest sister, Darla Anderson, brother-in-law Ray Anderson, and brother-in-law, Galen Skeem. He is survived by his sister, Anita Skeem, and many nephews and nieces, who all expect that ElRey’s Heavenly reunion was a wondrous event.
A Viewing will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 9-10AM at Leavitt’s Mortuary in Ogden, Utah. A graveside service and interment will immediately follow at Aultorest Memorial Park.
