Obituary

Our loving sister and aunt, Barbara Joyce Bullock Kubik left us on January 15, 2024, at home surrounded by loved ones. Barbara was born in Ogden Utah on July 31, 1951, to Myrna Child. Her father, James Syphers passed away shortly before she was born. She was raised by her mom Myrna and her dad, Ronald Bullock. She was the oldest of 7 children, loving and nurturing her siblings and later their children and grandchildren throughout her amazing life.

Barbara was raised in Ogden Utah, attending Ogden High School and graduating from Bonneville High School in 1969. Barbara joined the United States Air Force in 1975. After completing her military service in 1979, Barbara returned to school, completing her bachelor's degree in psychology and her master's degree in social services.

Barbara married Bob Kubik in 1978. They were later divorced.

Barbara had an extensive and fulfilling career, working as a licensed social worker around the world. The impact that she made on the world cannot be measured in words. She helped countless people in their most troubling times and left a mark that cannot be imagined.

Barbara lived all over the world, following her civil service career to where she was needed, however, Germany and New Mexico and the people she met in these areas had a special place in her heart. Barbara gained immense knowledge and connection to the Native American and Southwestern culture during her time in New Mexico. After Barbara retired, she returned to New Mexico.

Barbara loved her fur babies. They were her children. Throughout her life, she loved and spoiled her dogs Chauncy, Barney, Max, Bonnie Lass and her cat Freedom.

Even though she lived in so many different places, her family at home missed her and looked forward to when she would come home to visit. Phone calls, letters and birthday cards were always a treat, but nothing compared to spending time with Barbara and listening to her stories, getting her advice, and just being in her presence. She continued to guide us all by moving back to Utah and letting us enjoy time with her.

Barbara is survived by her siblings, Carl W. (Diana) Bullock, Hooper UT, Denise (Jerry) Simon, Pleasant View UT, Mark (Vicky) Bullock, Evanston WY and Trisha (John) Martinez, Syracuse UT, many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and her cat Freedom.

She was welcomed to her after life by her parents, Ronald and Myrna Bullock, father, James Syphers, brother, Ronald "Ray" Bullock, sister, Bonnie Bullock, and dogs Chauncy, Barney, Max and Bonnie Lass.

The family would like to thank IHC Hospice for their dedication and help, especially Amber and Laura. We appreciate your support as you guided Barbara and our family through this journey.

The rest of the family would also like to thank Barbara's sister, Trisha, sister-in-law, Diana, niece, Taylor and nephew, Jeremey for taking care of Barbara so diligently. She left this world knowing how loved she was.

Per Barbara's request, cremation will be directed by Leavitt's Mortuary and private graveside services will be held in the spring, where she will be laid to rest beside her mom in Ogden Utah.
