Barbara Jean (Miller) Prlina, age 57, of Ogden, UT passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 22, 2017.
She was born on August 23, 1960, in Inglewood, CA, to Donald and Katherine Miller. Upon graduation from high school in 1978, she enlisted in the US Navy and served aboard the USS Vulcan as part of the newly formed Women in Navy Ships program. After discharge from active duty, she went on to college at California State University-San Bernardino, where she graduated in 1990. She then began her career as an elementary school teacher in the Colton school district where she taught until 2007.
She was united in marriage to Michael Prlina on September 30, 1994. After moving to northern Utah in 2007, she dedicated herself to parenting and homemaking and was involved in numerous local charitable causes and volunteer activities. She enjoyed hiking, kayaking, traveling and spending time with her friends. She was a devout Christian and member of Mountain Road Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Fruit Heights.
She is survived by her loving husband Michael and son Alex, her brother James and sister Dona, favorite aunts Margaret Hibler and Judy Evington, and many extended family members. She was preceded by her parents.
A Celebration of Life is planned for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Mountain Road Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 796 South Mountain Road, Fruit Heights, UT, with Rev Donald Krafft officiating. A reception at the church will follow the service.
