Barry Banks, Col. U.S. Marine, Ret.Barry, 69, pulled his last "G" on March 26, 2012. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas to Harold and Mamie Banks on July 5, 1942.He attended Ogden High School and later graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy. At that time, he joined the Marine Corps. Throughout his military career, he attended test pilot school, served in Vietnam, had opportunities to welcome challenges, serve his country, assist in the design, and later on, had the privilege to command the Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 232 of F18 fighters. After retiring from the military, he was employed with Wasatch Regional Front and was currently employed with CDM-Smith. His responsibilities included planning and managing many transportation projects throughout Nevada and Utah. Barry enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Even when the grandkids would beat him on the golf course, that was fine because he was with them. He was proud of each of them for both their little and huge accomplishments. Barry is survived by his wife Judy, four sons: Todd, Centreville, and Scott, Woodbridge, Virginia, Rick (Jeanne) Schow, Morgan Hill, California and Mitch Schow (Kristin) Ogden, Utah, 9 grandchildren, nephew Travis Cartwright (Angie), sister, Jan Fuchs, Del Mar, California, many other very special people and his two little mutts. Barry was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Services will be held on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 2374 Grant Ave, Ogden, Utah. Family and friends will gather at the Church in the Tuttle Hall following the services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd, Utah Jr. Golf Association or St. Annes Homeless Center.
