Beth LaRae MuirOur sweet, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Beth LaRae (Parker) Muir, passed away on Sunday morning, March 24, 2013, at Rocky Mountain Care Center, in Clearfield, UT. She was born in her grandmothers home in Hooper, UT on October 1, 1931, to Elwyn Jost (Joe) Parker and Noma Flinders Parker, as the eldest of 4 siblings. She was raised in Clinton, UT on her familys farm and cattle ranch where she learned strong family values and that hard work and perseverance can bring great rewards. She married Kenneth E. Muir and together they had 5 children. They later divorced. She was a member of the LDS Church, serving as a visiting teacher, ward librarian and cub scout den mother.LaRae attended Clinton Elementary, Davis High School, and Weber State University. She was employed at Hill AFB, UT and later transferred to McClellan AFB, CA where she retired from government employment after 37 years of service. She then worked for SAIC in Sacramento, CA in software development for 13 years. Her experiences there, combined with her affiliation with Lockheed, Int., took her to many "secret" locations around the world as a leader of the team working in the Lockheed F-117A Nighthawk Program (Stealth Fighter.) Her call sign was "Sam". She reluctantly retired in 2000.Mom had many great talents and hobbies that she enjoyed throughout the years, starting with raising 5 children single-handedly. She raised us with unconditional love and care and endured many hardships along the way, as surely we did not always make her job easy. Words cannot convey the amount of love and gratitude we feel for all you did for us, Thank You Mom!She hosted many, many get-togethers, including the annual family "Everybody Birthday Party". She enjoyed being a member of the Boots n Saddles Womens Posse and participated in many parades and rodeos, avid gardener, amazing seamstress and could tackle any pattern or fabric, wood crafter, and any other craft that caught her talented fancy. Whenever we visited her in California, she would keep us going, finding endless places to go and things to see, no time for rest or boredom. She is survived by 4 of her children, Debra Kawaguchi (Steve), Sunset, UT; K.C. Muir (Beth Ann, divorced), Ogden, UT; Brad Muir (Cheryl), Plain City, UT; and, Ryan Muir (Stacy), Sloughouse, CA; By her 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren. Also by two sisters, Jean Walker, Kaysville, UT; Peggy Jo Parker, Star Valley Ranch, WY; one brother, Brent Parker (Martha), Roy, UT; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Stanley Muir (DeAnn, divorced), her parents, a baby sister, Ann; a brother -in-law, Larry Walker; and a niece, JoD Walker.The family would like to extend our greatest appreciation for the tireless efforts and support of Dr. Vincent Hansen and his amazing, caring staff at the Huntsman Cancer Center at IHC McKay-Dee, Ogden, UT; the wonderful folks and "family" at Country Pines Retirement Community in Clinton; Our new, loving friends from Hearts for Hospice, and to her caregivers from Rocky Mountain Care, Clearfield. And, of course a big thank you to all the support from friends and loved ones. All of your love and support made Moms time here and especially her final years as fulfilled and comfortable as they possibly could have been.A memorial service following cremation will be held Friday, March 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., at the Scattering Garden at the Leavitts Mortuary Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 - 36th St., Ogden, UT. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask that donations be made to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation in memory of Beth L. Muir.
