Betty Lou Wheeler Thompson's Obituary

Our loving, sweet mother, Betty Lou Wheeler Thompson departed from us May 23, 2017 to rejoin her eternal family. Betty was born March 2, 1927 in Blackfoot, Idaho to William Riley and Bertha Furniss Wheeler. Betty was reared and educated in Preston, Idaho and during war time her family moved to Ogden, Utah, where she met the man who would be her eternal companion, James C. Thompson. They married December 7, 1943 and later solemnized their marriage in the Salt Lake Temple. Betty had worked at Utah General Depot during World War II where she waited for her Jim to return from the Navy. In later years, she worked for Hill Air Force Base until her retirement. Betty and Jim raised two children. Their favorite family times were spent together admiring nature, camping, fishing and hunting. Together they built a beautiful cabin in Idaho. Jim passed away in 1977, leaving Betty a widow for 40 years but she daily expressed her love and devotion for him. Surviving are her son, James W. (Kathy) Thompson of Brigham City and daughter, Sandra (Ray) Walker of Mountain Green, six grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, her husband and two grandchildren. Private Graveside services will be held in Moreland, Idaho under the direction of Leavitts Mortuary.
