Beulah Esther Ellison's Obituary

With a sense of immense gratitude for the life she shared with us, we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Beulah Esther Schwindt Ellison, known by those who love her as Buddi, on November 5, 2016. Buddi was born on May 20, 1920, in Flagler, Colorado, where she lived until she was eight. Afterwards, she moved to Olpe, Kansas and from there to Quincy, Kansas, where she grew up with her parents, Chris and Frieda Schwindt, and her seven brothers and sisters. In high school, Buddi was a member of the glee club and orchestra. Along with being a high school valedictorian, she was a state champion basketball player and was named the states top guard. Buddi attended Newman Memorial Hospital College in Emporia, Kansas, where she trained as a nurse. In 1942, Buddi met Harold Jerome Ellison, the love of her life. After their marriage, the couple moved to Ogden, Utah, where Buddi worked as a supervisor in the premature nursery department for Dee Hospital. Later she worked as an alternate supervisor for the IRS. Buddi was a member of Ogdens First Methodist Church where she served first as a childrens Sunday School teacher and later as an adult Sunday School teacher for over 30 years. Buddi was a master crafts person at crochet and knitting, and she loved to read and garden. Buddis tenaciousness, generosity, compassion, and kindness will leave those who knew her with an empty space deep inside, but the love we all feel for her remains. Safe journeys, Mom/Grannie/Gramma Buddi. We will keep you close in our hearts and celebrate your life. Buddi is survived by her son, Ernest Jerome Ellison (Jerry) and her daughter, Sylvia Ellison Porter, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 2:30 P.
