Obituary

Beverly Joyce Harbertson FlorenceBeverly Joyce Harbertson Florence passed away on February 22, 2013. She was born March 28, 1926 to Gladys Venice Lewis and Brigham Y. Harbertson in Ogden, Utah. She lived most of her life in Ogden where she was raised and taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ by loving, faithful parents. She married Leland Henry Florence Jr. in the Salt Lake City Temple August 13, 1951. They were divorced after 30 years.Mother was a perfect example of selflessness. Her siblings as well as her children spoke about her giving nature and many acts of sacrifice for her family. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. She served two full time proselytizing missions for the Church, one as a young lady in the central states and one in Macon, Georgia when she was in her early seventies. She attended the temple often and gave freely of her time in service to the Lord. She made friends easily and was often referred to by her friends and acquaintances as a delightful, sweet woman with a cheery countenance and fun to be around. She loved to write poetry about family and friends and inspirational prose about the Lord. She would often express her gratitude for the Savior and the Gospel. Her faith was an example to all of us. Her conversations would often include admonition to trust in the Lord and she would regularly express her thankfulness and recognition for all she had been blessed with.Mother was an excellent cook and during her later years of forgetfulness, we would remind her of how we were often spoiled with her gourmet meals. We learned a lot from mother, especially how to have a sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Doris (Lee) Parkinson and one grandson, Joshua Florence. She is survived by her four children, Kim (Jacci) Florence of Layton, Larry (Kathy) Florence of Vallejo, CA, David Florence of Riverdale and Kristine (Riley) Montgomery of West Point.A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Feb 27, 2013 from 6-8 pm at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th St., Ogden, UT.
