After a life filled with family, friends and tons of adventures our mother passed away on March 17, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Mom was born on October 30, 1933 in Blackfoot, ID to Clara Putnam Howard and Richard Howard.
Mom went to Ogden High School where she met dad, Joseph Eugene Judkins (deceased) and was married February 19, 1954 in Ogden, Utah.
Mom gave endless hours of service and had a heart full of love and acceptance for everyone especially those who are different and less fortunate.
She earned her degree in nursing from the Thomas Dee Hospital School of Nursing and earned her Bachelors and Masters degree from the University of Utah. Mom has worked in several hospitals here in Utah: The Dee, McKay-Dee, Ogden Regional, Utah Veterans and Tooele Valley. She worked in the Labor & Delivery, Emergency Room, Critical Care Units and Oncology.
Mom was a true pioneer in the medical field and leaves behind a legacy of students and friends who loved her dearly. She was part of the Rocky mountain coronary program and was instrumental in creating and working with the Coronary Care, ICU and Critical Care Units at the Dee and McKay Dee hospitals. She helped start the paramedic program here in Ogden. She taught nursing at both the U of U and WSU and was one of the first on line instructors for the nursing program. Mom was part of the startup of the Ogden Rescue Mission Clinic and sat on the board and continued to work her share of shifts up until the time of her death. As if Mom didnt have enough adventure here, she also spent four years working as the director of nursing in the King Fahd Hospital of the University in Saudi Arabia.
Mom leaves behind four daughters and one son; Kim (Richard) Morrison, Riverdale, Josie (Steve) Wankier, Morgan, Robb (Angie) Judkins, Ogden, Judy (Dee) Nye, Marriott Slaterville, Jan (Paul) Walters, Harrisville, and a very special family friend Nadya (Stoney) Wayment, Ogden; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren with two more great-grandchildren on the way.
She was preceded in death by her Ernie Dog.
