Bret John Green passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 8. Bret was born Christmas Eve, 1965 in Ogden, UT. He grew up in Layton, UT and graduated from Layton High in 1984. He worked for Weber Basin Water Conservancy District then the North Davis Wastewater Treatment plant for his entire career, making many friends and serving the people of Davis County for over 35 years.
Bret was a loving and dedicated father, brother, son, uncle, and grandfather. He was so proud of both his sons. He was an expert hunter and fisherman, sharing his passion and knowledge with his family and friends. He dedicated his time to building lasting memories for those close to him in the outdoors, especially the beautiful Uinta Mountains. He setup long term camps, with a wall tent, stove, and a cook shack that would make any outfitter jealous. We send him home to the mountains with his favorite farewell, "Watch your top knot".
Bret is survived by his two loving sons, Cody and Brady (Laramie). Granddaughters, Ellie and Irie. Sisters, Shellece (David) and Jenah (Daniel), nieces and nephews Charlee and Kedric Capron and Eden Nye, and his loving parents, Duane and Jean Green. He was supported and loved by many in his family, especially his cousin Cory Rowe.
Organ donation provides a life-giving, life enhancing opportunity to those who are at the end of the line for hope. We were so fortunate that Bret was given that opportunity for a new liver but was too sick to survive the surgery. We would like to thank the dedicated caregivers, nurses, and doctors of McKay Dee and Intermountain Medical Center, and the liver transplant team, who provided support and exceptional care in Brets final weeks.
The pain of grief is just as much part of life as the joy of love. It is perhaps the price we pay for love, and the cost of commitment.
"The bugle of the bull elk echoes through the pines, the north wind moans her lonesome lullaby. He hungers for the freedom of an Eagle as she glides, somewhere beyond the great divide. Brets heard the call of the wild." Chris LeDoux.
Please join us in a celebration of life for Bret on Tuesday evening October 17th from 6 to 8pm at Leavitts mortuary 836 36th street Ogden UT.
