Washington Terrace-Bruce Willard Mower, 63, left this mortal life on Tuesday, August 7, 2012. He died of natural causes. Bruce was born on Friday, May 13, 1949, in Cascade Valley, Idaho, the only son to Orson Willard and Arvilla Olson Mower. He graduated from Bonneville High School. He studied Theatre Arts at Weber College and Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He spent 10 years in New York City working as an actor. His parents were overjoyed when he became homesick and returned to South Ogden. He lived in his parents basement for about 10 years and then moved into his own home in Washington Terrace. Bruce worked for UTA as a bus driver for about 23 years and was looking forward to being able to retire so he could become a writer. He loved meeting people. His hobbies were reading, watching movies of all kinds and studying the scriptures. Bruce was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in Hong Kong for 2 years. While living in New York he held several positions in the Chinese Speaking Branch; one of which was teaching the Gospel to the members in Cantonese. After returning to Utah he held many positions being Sunday School President in his ward at the time of his death. He enjoyed singing and was a member of the ward choir. Bruce is survived by his four sisters: Marilyn (George) Froerer, Kathleen (Richard) Stephens, Janet (David) Jorgensen and Phyllis (Leon) Greenwell. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services for Bruce will be held on Monday, August 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Washington Terrace 7th Ward, 125 East 5350 South. Family will greet friends from 12:00 ~ 1:45 p.m. prior to the services. Interment will be held at West Weber Cemetery.
