Carmen Barba Martinez, Age 73Loving wife, beautiful mother, grandmother and friend passed away Monday evening, July 25, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. Carmen was born June 12, 1938 in Woodland, California. Daughter of Lupe and Esther Barba. She attended Jordan High School and Stevens Henagar College. On October 8, 1960 she married the love of her life, Larkin Martinez at St. Marys Catholic Church by Father Herlich. Together they became the loving parents of three daughters and two sons. Carmen worked at Ogden Poultry, Globe Seafood, and Meadow Gold. She was an active member at St. Marys Parish. Carmen enjoyed the slot machines in Wendover. She liked going on long walks. Carmen loved playing with her grandchildren and spending time with her family. She loved cooking and we will all miss her homemade tortillas. Her favorite activity was going golfing with her loving husband, in which she was his good luck charm and golf coach. Her memory will be carried on by her beloved husband, Larkin and her children Anthony (Evelyn) Martinez of Layton, Debra Martinez of New York City, Diane (David) Bird of Kaysville, Julie (Todd) Schenck of Eden, Matthew (Jami) Martinez of West Haven; her eighteen grandchildren; her brothers, Lupe Barba and Manuel Barba; her sister Virginia (Leborio) Haro; her loving Aunt, Virginia Huerta, her loving Uncle Henry Galvan.Carmen is preceded in death by her mother and father, Lupe and Esther Barba; mother and father-in- law, Luis and Theodora Martinez; brother, Tony Barba; sister, Francis Barba.We will love and miss you Mom!The family wishes to extend thanks to Vista Care Hospice, and a special thanks to Cynthia, Haley, Tammy, and Debbie. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Marys Catholic Church, 4050 S. 3900 W. West Haven, Utah will be held Friday, July 29, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Aviewing, will be held Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, from 5-7 p.m. with rosary following at 7 p.m. Interment in the Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
