Carmen E. Carmelo returned peacefully to his heavenly father in heaven on September 12, 2017. Carmen was born on July 19, 1934, in Anaheim, California to Joseph and Julia Carmelo.
He was the fourth of five brothers. He attended schools in Anaheim and graduated from Fullerton High School. He moved from Southern California to Ogden, Utah in 1957. In 1958 he met Teresa Sanchez and in 1959 they were married at Saint Marys Catholic Church. On September 5, 2017, Carmen and Teresa celebrated 58 years of marriage. Together they raised two sons; David P. Carmelo of Park City, Utah and Anthony J. Carmelo of South Ogden, Utah. Carmen worked for Midas Muffler and retired after working for the company 35 years. He also worked at the Mini Mart part-time for many years.
In his younger years, Carmen enjoyed racing cars at speed tracks in California. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and his passion was bowling in various leagues. He was a lifelong Los Angeles Lakers fan.
He is survived by his spouse, two sons, sister-in-law, two brother-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, sister-in-laws.
A viewing will be held from 6:00 8:00 pm with the rosary being held at 7:00 pm at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah, on Friday, September 15, 2017.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017, at 11:00 am at Saint Josephs Catholic Church, 514 24th Street, Ogden, Utah.
Services entrusted to Leavitts Mortuary.
Interment will be at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park.
