Carol Joy Humphries JensenBeloved mother, wife, sister, neighbor and worlds greatest grandma ever, Carol Joy Humphries Jensen passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at her home in South Ogden. Born May 30, 1945, she is the daughter of Claude W. (Bud) Humphries and Norma Harrop Humphries. On February 20, 1964, she married DeLoy Hughes Jensen; they celebrated 48 years together raising their two children and seven grandchildren. Carol graduated from Ogden High School and Weber State University. She worked for the IRS as a manager and supervisor in Ogden and Salt Lake City. In her teenage years, she cooked at Ogdens famous Bobs Barbeque, which her family operated."Grammy" had a zest for life. She had a recognizable laugh that followed her wherever she went. She was well known at Grandview Elementary, Shadow Valley Elementary, Mount Ogden Junior High and Childrens Classic as the ultimate volunteer grand-parent because she was always available and never said no. Her passions were her grandchildren, golf, travel and coin collecting. Forever in our memories will be the traditional Thanksgiving Dinner and her famous chocolate pies, Christmas mornings with her unforgettable rolls and a breakfast nobody finished before tearing into the piles of gifts that she insisted on delivering one at a time, and Easter Sunday with the hunt for candy that wasnt all found until mid-summer. Gathering at Grammys house was greatest of traditions. Swimming parties, NFL football, Jazz games, March Madness, Superbowl Sunday, and all other excuses to gather would start with snack and sodas and finish with a big mess that she insisted on cleaning up herself. Grammy was the most unselfish and giving person, always taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren that she cherished dearly. Even the family dogs knew they would get spoiled during the Sunday visits. Gorgeous, Beautiful, Trouble, Squishy, Stinker, Tinky Boy, Mia, Rhyle Guy-lie, Jaimee-Jo, C, and my boy, are loving words from a familiar voice that will be forever missed. Carol not only cared for her immediate family but was always concerned with the welfare of extended family, neighbors and friends. She especially enjoyed the talks with her neighbor Sally.Carol is survived by her husband Dee, son Scott, daughter Cherie (Jon) Hanson, grandchildren Cassie, Joshua, Jeremy, Ciara, Jaimee, Rhyle, Hayden and brother Brent. She was preceded in death by her father and mother.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday July 27, 2012 at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden.
