Carrol Maughan, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away December 10, 2015. Carrol was born to Frederick Darley Maughan and Fontell Nielsen Maughan on November 28, 1929 in Clifton, Idaho. Carrol was reared and educated in Preston, Idaho before starting on many exciting adventures. Carrol married his true love Connie Carter in Elko, Nevada on January 25, 1957. His greatest achievement was his three children, Linda, Boyd and Fred. Carrol started his career as a Private in the Air Force from 1948 ~ 1952. He served in the Korean War, receiving a Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Medal and Korea Service Medal. After the Army, Carrol serviced refrigerator cars for the Pacific Fruit Express Railway. He loved the railroad, but saw great potential in electrical engineering. He used his GI grant to attend college in Chicago at the Coyne College where he was educated as a master electrician. He continued this career for 58 years, working on many fantastic projects, including Hoover Dam, Flaming Gorge, Yucca Mountain Test Site, and Thiokol, as well as a great many others. He was blessed to work with his son, Boyd at many locations. As well as being an electrician, Carrol worked as a business agent for International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 217 from 1971 to 1980. Carrol loved fishing, deer hunting and traveling. He was intelligent, thoughtful, congenial, passionate, intuitive, quiet, loving and a good friend. He has a great many dear friends, many of whom preceded him in death. Carrol is survived by his wife, Connie; sons, Boyd (LuAnn) and Fred (Sabine); daughter, Linda (Dirk); 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 11:00 am at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah. Friends may visit with the family prior to services from 10:00 to 10:45 am. Interment at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.
