Casey Gridley Shorten, aged 66, peacefully passed away at home on June 9, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born on February 26, 1950 to Ralph and Helen Shorten in Ogden, Utah. Casey graduated from Ogden High School in 1969 and remained life-long friends with many classmates. He married the love of his life Annagay on February 29, 1992. He was a decorated officer for the Ogden Police Department for over 21 years. He spent many years working with at-risk youth coaching amateur boxing. He lived life to the fullest; he enjoyed traveling, glamping, golfing, skiing, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He loved all animals and most of all his dogs Doogie and Bowser. He added a touch of humor to all aspects of life. He is survived by his mother Helen Shorten; his wife Annagay Shorten; his children Traci (Darren) DeGraw, Cami (Rene) Myers, DiAnna (Michael) DeGroot, Kyle (Chessa) Shorten, Jamee (Shane) Pew, Mindi (Matthew) Hix, Michael (Genevieve) Shorten, Chase Winsor; and 16 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Ralph Shorten. He touched the lives of all who knew him. We would like to extend heartfelt thanks to his long-time friends who loved him and showed so much support through this difficult time. Funeral Services will be June 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th St., Ogden, UT. A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on June 17, 2016 at the mortuary and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
