The Life of Ted Burrell

Ted Burrell was born on June 27, 1939, and tragically passed away on July 27, 2026, as a result of a wildfire. He leaves behind a lifetime of accomplishments, unforgettable memories, and a family who loved him deeply.

Ted was raised in Mountain Green, Utah, by his paternal grandparents, who instilled in him the values of hard work, determination, and integrity that would guide him throughout his life.

Ted proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, a chapter of his life that reflected his patriotism, discipline, and commitment to serving others. Those same qualities remained with him throughout his life and career.

He married and made his home in Brigham City, Utah, where he founded a successful HVAC company. His entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic led him to many opportunities over the years. In the mid-1970s, Ted helped build the first Flying J truck stop and later managed it. His dedication and leadership earned him a promotion to District Manager, overseeing the development and operation of future truck stops.

Never one to shy away from a new venture, Ted later owned Teddy Bear’s Market in Pleasant View, Utah. Eventually, he returned to his construction roots and established Burrell Remodeling & Construction, where he spent many years helping families improve their homes. One of his proudest accomplishments was building the dream home he had envisioned for much of his life.

Ted was an accomplished pilot and had a lifelong love for the outdoors. He especially enjoyed water sports and was an avid golfer, following in the footsteps of his father. He became well known throughout the Weber County golf community for both his love of the game and the friendships he built along the way.

Ted also believed in serving others. He was a dedicated member of the Box Elder County Scuba Search and Rescue Team, where he proudly served as president, giving his time and talents to helping those in need.

Above all else, Ted will be remembered for the joy he brought to those around him. His quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and unmistakable laugh could light up any room. Family gatherings were among his favorite times, especially when they included a home-cooked meal. It became a family tradition that after insisting everyone watch a movie, Ted would promptly fall asleep before it was over, leaving everyone else laughing.

Ted is survived by his three children, Charleen, Bryan, and Sabra; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and countless extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Though his passing was heartbreaking, Ted’s legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the businesses he built, the service he gave to his country and community, and the love he shared with his family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 31, 2026, at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah 84403, starting at 11:00 AM. Interment at Aultorest Memorial Park.
