Christine Louise (Cates) Howe passed away March 28, 2016 at the age of 90. She was the daughter of George W Cates and Nancy Archer Cates, born August 11, 1925 in Jenks, Oklahoma. She was raised primarily in San Angelo, Texas, but lived the greater part of her life in Ogden, Utah. In 1948 she married her loving husband, Gordon W Howe. They were blessed with five wonderful children, and their greatest joy and achievements in life were raising their children.
They were members of the Washington Heights Baptist Church where they made many life-long friends. Christine was the final surviving original member of Washington Heights, attending since the first service was held in 1956. Christine taught Sunday School for over 50 years, impacting the lives of many children. She served many years as a Deaconess, on the Flower Committee, and went on her last short-term Mission trip at the age of 75. Christine worked at Hill Air Force Base for many years before retiring. She has resided in Washington Terrace for 60 years and was thankful for many wonderful neighbors.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy (Steven) Jones, three sons, Ron (Ann Mary) Howe, Mark (Jill) Howe, David (Sissy) Howe, and son-in-law Steven (Nicole) Goodwill. Christine loved children, and loved that her family grew through births and blending to 55 and counting. She was a loving grandmother to 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Christine is survived by two sisters, Nona Fletcher, and Mary Motl, one sister-in-law, JoAnn Hudspeth, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gordon, daughter Carol, and four sisters, Margaret Cates, Doris Hillstead, Wanda Bakewell, and Helen Galloway. She loved The Lord with all her heart, and her blessings were too numerous to count. We give special thanks to her sister Nona, her lifelong best friend and loving companion, for living with Christine for the past eighteen months. You gave her much comfort and joy.
