Clair Melvin Peterson, to some "Mel" and to others "Pete" but to all a friend, passed away July 1, 2012. He was born on June 20, 1946; son of Clair William and Velma Allen Peterson. Mel graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1964. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. He worked at G.S.L and DDO, and then retired from Hill Air Force Base. Mel had many hobbies but his passion was working with rocks and gems. He loved his "rock" family and Im sure will be missed by them. Mel was loved by all that knew his intense humor and silly teasing. He was the "go to" guy for many family and friends. Mel is survived by his brothers; David, Glen, Larry and Donald (Gloria) Peterson, his sisters; Donna Rhead and Nancy Hicks, many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Shirley. "As were on this shore waving goodbye, somewhere on a distant shore, theyre waving hello."A viewing for Mel will be held on Monday, July 9, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden. A celebration of his life will be held following at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make donations to McKay Dee Heart Institute.
