Claire Louise Wolfer Perrins, 87, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2023. Claire was born in Ogden, Utah to Atwell & Clementine Wolfer on September 5, 1936.
Raised in Ogden, Claire took several trips to market in New York with her parents who owned Wolfers, a ladies clothing shop in downtown Ogden. Summers were spent in Calgary Alberta, Canada, visiting extended family. She always said her parents were the best and she was lucky to have them.
After graduating from Ogden High School, Claire attended an all-girls college. She met and married George Friese Perrins on July 12,1958, and together they raised 3 children: Mike, Jeff and Wendy. As a family we took many trips to Sun Valley, a place our parents loved. Claire was primarily a homemaker but worked part time over the years at Weber State University and Peck & Peck Clothing. She volunteered her time with PEO, a philanthropic organization devoted to the advancement of women through the awarding of scholarships. In her spare time she played tennis with her sons and good friends. Winning a tennis tournament with sons Mike and Jeff was one of her fondest memories.
Claire loved playing cards and going out to lunch with her many good friends. She was a very good cook and enjoyed cooking for her family. Mom was a great presence in our lives, making our home a calm, loving, safe and happy place to be. She spent many hours driving us all over to all our many activities, including many snowy drives to Snow Basin Ski Resort. Holidays were always celebrated. Christmas morning was so fun we could not wait to run downstairs. Mom loved being outside in the backyard and would spend many hours doing yard work and enjoying the beautiful flowers, taking time to comment on how pretty the mountains were and how pretty the trees and the blue sky looked. Positivity was a quality that could not be hidden in Mom. Smiling and compliments came so easy to her. She never missed an opportunity to find something good about you and let you know. If you needed a pick-me-up, she was your go-to gal.
Her love for her grandchildren was clear. Many hours were spent on the floor playing games with her grandkids or pushing them on the swing. If you wanted a fort in the front room, you got it. If you wanted a tea party in the backyard you just had to say the word. If you wanted 10 pumpkins at the pumpkin patch, they were yours. Her love was always shared with her family. Words are not enough to fully express the loss we feel and our gratitude for a life well lived.
Thank you to Peterson Farms Assisted Living in South Weber and Cascade Spring Hospice for taking such good care of our mother. The staff was always loving and kind and had her well-being in mind.
Claire is survived by her children Mike (Susan), Jeff, Wendy (Ray)Tanner. grandchildren Megan (Zu), Colby (Araya), Matt (Kory), Sophie, Emma, Travis, Jordan (Crystal). Great grandchildren Deegan, Baylee, Paislee. Sister-in-law Barbara Brown. Several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband George Perrins, brother John Wolfer, brother-in-law Jack Brown, niece Jana Brown.
Services will be held at Leavitt’s Mortuary (836 36th St) on Saturday September 9th at 11am. Viewing before at 9:45-10:45. In lieu of flowers, please perform an act of kindness in memory of Claire.
