C. William "Bill" StoneWASHINGTON TERRACE Our father and grandfather passed away on September 8, 2011 after a long life of service to others. Bill was born as the oldest child to Clarence M. and Florence Stratton Stone in his grandparents Riverdale home on December 26, 1923. After serving as a Marine in the Pacific Theatre during World War II, he met Betty Marie Nelson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota on The Pike at Long Beach, California. They married at the end of the war on October 1, 1945 and were sealed in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple in 1950. Together they had seven children. Bill worked hard to take care of his family and wore out his life in love and service to his family, friends, and all those around him. His most important job and calling was that of father, husband and grandfather. After 50 years of marriage, Betty passed away. Bill later married Gloria Wakefield who also preceded him in death.He is survived by his sons, Murray (Collette) Stone, Sandy; Jeffrey (Ruth) Stone, Washington Terrace; son-in-law Ben Jones, Henefer; daughters, Melanie (Larry) Hansen, Riverdale; Rebecca (Steve) Warren, Fountain Valley, California; Valerie (David) McTee, Clinton; 25 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; sister Delma (Colen) Gailey, Riverdale; brother Harold (Marilyn) Stone, Kingman, Arizona. He joined his parents, wife Betty, daughter Maureen and son Paul in heaven. Please celebrate his life with us on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden. The viewing will be held Sunday, September 11, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. also at the Mortuary.
