Claude Elliot Stuart Jr. passed away on February 13, 2014. His family members are grateful that we were able to care for him toward the end of his life just as he cared for us for so many years.
He was born December 1, 1922 in Uintah, Utah to Claude Elliot Sr. and Ellen Fernelius Stuart, the eldest son in a family of 11 siblings. He spent his entire life on the farm in Uintah, which he always said is a great place to raise a family. He attended schools in Uintah and South Ogden and graduated from Weber High School in 1941.
During World War II he served with the Eighth Army Air Force in Europe. Upon his return from the Military he was called to serve an LDS Mission to the Northern States Mission, serving most of his time in Ohio. Upon his return from his Mission he made the best decision of his life when he married Fay Cramer in the Logan Temple on June 2, 1949. They made their home in Uintah where their marriage was blessed with 3 sons and a daughter. Dad worked at Hill Air Force Base for 37 years, then retired to the farm.
Dad was always involved in church and the community. He served for over 30 years in the Boy Scouts, receiving his Silver Beaver. He was a faithful Home Teacher, Scoutmaster, High Councilor, Bishop, Stake Patriarch and Sealer in the Ogden Temple. In the community he served on the City Council and was the water master and secretary for the irrigation company for over 40 years. He brought countless joy to hundreds of children by sharing his farm produce with Head Start and many area schools. His greatest success was his family and he loved being called Grandpa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters and 2 brothers. Surviving are his sisters, Ila Jean Carter and Joann Robinson; brothers Ken Stuart and Dick Brown; His Wife Fay and sons Mark (Chris), Carl (Paula), Paul (Danette) and daughter Susan; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
