Roy-Clyde Verl Goodwin, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at the George Wahlen Veterans Home, due to complications from a recent surgery. Clyde was born June 7, 1921 in Ogden, UT., to Samuel Goodwin and Rosa Pope. He graduated from Ogden High School and the Ogden Business College. Clyde married his high school sweetheart Rosella Godfrey on December 23, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They shared 68 wonderful years together. Clyde was an Army Veteran of World War II and served in New Guinea, the Philippines and Japan. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He retired from Defense Depot Ogden as the records management officer where he received several outstanding awards. Clyde was an active member of the LDS Church serving in many positions, serving as a Counselor in the Bishopric, Ward Clerk, Stake Auditor and in the Stake Young Mens Presidency.He was a former member of the Good Sams Club and was a member of the Davis Antelopers Travel Club. He loved golf, music, traveling and especially any activity that involved his family. Clyde is survived by his sweet wife, Rosella, sons; Scott, Brent (Karin), Bruce, daughter; Judy (Neil) Winterton, and sister, Berneice Kemsley. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Jerry, Ron, Lee, a sister Helen, and his son Vince. Friends may visit the family on Friday, April 15, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, and one hour prior to services. Services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Leavitts. Interment will be at Roy City Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded.
