Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Clyde Marion Ratliff Sr., Clyde was born on March 13, 1945. The 11th child of 12 children of the late William and Alice Ratliff. Clyde passed peacefully in his sleep on 4/18/2026 at the age of 81.

Clyde grew up in Minoa, New York, surrounded by a large and loving family. Clyde lived most of his life in the Kirkville, Chittenango, Fenner-Cazenovia New York area. Later in life he lived in Arizona with his brother Daniel Ratliff and in the last few years of his life he lived in Roy, Utah with his son Clyde Jr. He and his wife Linda owned and operated the “Double R Stables” owning & boarding horses for many years. Clyde also loved to hunt, fish and camp. But most of all he loved spending time with his family. He worked for Carrier Corporation for 44 years as a welder & overhead crane operator.

Clyde had a quick wit and a sense of humor. If Clyde said he was going to do something for someone he, did it. He was a man of his word, a great husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. His remarkable life will forever be an inspiration, a testament to a life well lived to all of his family and friends.

He will be missed and forever remembered by those who loved him.

In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Linda Lee (Eckerlin) Ratliff. He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Laura Lupinocci, June Fleming, Martha Corp, and Betty Mazzeo, and four Brothers, Clifford Ratliff, Robert Ratliff, Russel Ratliff, and Oliver Ratliff.

Clyde is survived by his loving children, Clyde Ratliff Jr. (Tammy) of Roy, UT, Gerald Ratliff (Karyn) of Brewerton, NY, John Burns (Michelle) of Dryden, NY, and step sons Dale Carpenter (Dawn) of Charlotte, NC, James Carpenter of Summerfield, FL, and Clyde is also survived by his sister Mary Nugent of East Syracuse, NY, two Brothers, Daniel Ratliff of Golden Valley, AZ and Larry Ratliff (Linda) of Thomasville NC. In addition to 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service celebrating Clyde’s exceptional life will be held and announced at a later date located at Pine Plains Cemetery located at 465 Peck Road, Sullivan, NY 13082. We invite all who knew and loved Clyde to join us in honoring his legacy, memory, and life.
