Obituary

Dallan Ray Williams, 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on October 6, 1948, in Lewiston, Utah, to George Williams and Alice Hendricks, famously arriving on the kitchen table, a story he carried with humor throughout his life. He grew up a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was known to skip church whenever he could get away with it to go play pinball at LD’s Café. He graduated from Sky View High School in Cache Valley, Utah, and later attended Utah State University. He eventually moved to Ogden, Utah, to work with his brother, Wendell, where he resided the remainder of his life.

Dallan grew up on a farm, where he worked for his uncle Dave herding cattle and alongside his father in the family painting business. You couldn’t be a Williams without being a painter. He became a painter by trade and a business owner for over 30 years. He built not only a successful career, but also countless lifelong friendships through his work. He loved connecting with employees, contractors, fellow business owners, and anyone he met along the way. He took great pride in the quality and detail of his work and had a natural gift for teaching and sharing his expertise.

His adventurous spirit showed early on. As a teenager, he found an injured badger, nursed it back to health, and made it his pet, famously walking it on a leash to the neighborhood store. That same love for animals stayed with him throughout his life, especially with his beloved dog, Bugsy, who was his loyal companion for 16 years and rarely left his side.

Dallan married Connie Walker in 1967, and together they had three daughters. He later married Patricia McConville in 1983, and they had one daughter together. Through this marriage, he also gained a stepson. Patricia passed away in 1988 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. In 1994, he found lasting love with Mary Lehrmann, with whom he shared the rest of his life. Through their marriage, he gained a stepson and stepdaughter, completing a blended family he deeply loved.

In the final year of his life, Dallan learned of a son he had not previously known. They were able to meet, and he was grateful for the opportunity to connect and get to know him, and his grandson.

Outside of his family, he had many passions that brought him joy throughout his life. His 1965 three-speed Pontiac GTO held a special place in his heart. He also had a deep passion for aviation, holding a small-engine pilot’s license for many years and owning his own plane. He could identify nearly any aircraft flying overhead and spent countless hours building and painting model airplanes.

Music was another lifelong love. He played the piano as a young man and later taught himself to play the drums, which was his true passion. He played with many musicians over the years, forming friendships that lasted a lifetime. His home was always filled with music, and we find comfort in imagining him reunited with friends, playing in a heavenly band now that the drummer has arrived.

Dallan loved life and never met a stranger. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome, valued, and loved. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Known for his big hugs and even bigger personality, his laugh was unforgettable…loud, contagious, and guaranteed to make everyone around him laugh. He lived life simply, going with the flow and believing there was always a tomorrow. He also had a knack for giving people nicknames that stuck for years.

He is survived by his children: Chantel Sandberg (Curt), Dana Newton (Josh), Danette Williams, Lacie Boney (Jon), Justin Craythorn, Amber Craythorn, and Justin Hanney. He leaves behind nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one more on the way, soon to make lucky number thirteen. He is also survived by a son, Allen Elmer (Crystal), and a grandson, whom he met later in life, as well as his sister, Laurel Kristofferson (Keith), and brother, Marvin Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia; his sisters, Donna Jones and Gloria Larsen; and his brothers, Wendell, Garold, and Brian Williams.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his kindness, humor, and the joy he brought to everyone around him.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. located at Leavitt's Mortuary & Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 A.M. the following day, Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at the same location.
