Daniel Avery Drake Sr., affectionately known as Dan to his friends and family, embarked on his final adventure on February 19, 2026. Born on the first of May in 1958, under the misty ambiance of Niagara Falls, NY, Dan's zest for life was as mighty as the cascading waters of his hometown. His journey may have ended in the peaceful town of Tremonton, UT, but his spirit, much like his laughter, echoes endlessly.

Dan's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and the occasional mischievous twinkle in his eye. As the patriarch of a vibrant family, he leaves behind a legacy of joy and resilience. Chrystle and Amber, his daughters, inherited his love of music. Trevor and Daniel, his sons, carry on his love for the great outdoors, while Brianne, his youngest, will forever be inspired by her father's boundless curiosity. Dan's sisters, Sharron Willis and Krissy Drake will miss his sometimes off colored jokes and witty sense of humor. Although preceded in death by his brothers Larry, James, Kenneth, and Leslie; father, Joseph, and mother, Bernice Jordan, the stories and laughter they shared will be a comforting reminder of the wonderful family they were.

Before retiring, Dan stood as a sentinel of safety, first as a security officer for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, then as security at the Delta Center where he strengthened his love for the Utah Jazz, and finally as a Sergeant at the Utah Department of Corrections, where for 28 years, he made sure the only thing escaping were the occasional chuckles from his well-timed jokes, although, most of the time he thought he was much funnier than he truly was.

Dan was an explorer at heart, whether he was geocaching, treasure hunting, or simply searching for deer, he always found the beauty in nature's grand design. He reveled in hunting and shooting, not just for the sport but for the stories that came with it, and we all know there were STORIES that came with it. Riding ATVs, camping, and fishing were his ways of bonding with nature and his loved ones.

To say Dan loved clocks would be an understatement; he was captivated by their ticking hands, perhaps because he understood better than anyone that each moment was precious and worth filling with joy. His passion for sports was only matched by his penchant for telling jokes, ensuring that every game was accompanied by laughter. Daniel Avery Drake Sr. lived life to the fullest, and though the hands of his clock have come to a rest, the laughter and love he shared will continue to echo through the lives he touched.

Dan loved to travel and drive the back roads as often as he could. He loved this country and was a true patriot. Along the road of life, Dan often found opportunities to help those who needed it. He'd take in both people and animals and give them not just a home, but a family. Michael is one that Dan took in, befriended, and he has become a member of our family. Michael, we want you to know that we recognize how much you have assisted him these last few years and you will forever have our gratitude.

Dan's story is one of a life well-lived and well-loved, a narrative punctuated by the best punchlines. His departure leaves us with heavy hearts but also with a treasure trove of joyful memories and the reminder to always find the humor in life's journey. Dan, here's to you, for every joke told, every fish caught, and every life brightened. Your legacy is no laughing matter, but it sure is full of laughter.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 28, 2026, at the LDS Church on 251 S Tremont St, Tremonton, UT 84337. Visitation will be from 10:30am - 11:30am with services beginning at 12pm.
