IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Darren
Sevy
April 11, 1967 – October 4, 2024
Darren Layne Sevy, affectionately known as Uncle D to his family, passed away at age 57 after a valiant 6-year battle with cancer. He fought with everything he had, but ultimately succumbed to the cancer. Pain was his constant companion, but he seldom complained. It didn't keep him from living his life to the fullest. He was a devoted father, loving son, wonderful big brother, best uncle and friend to all.
Darren was born in Ogden, Utah on April 11, 1967 to Bill and Pat Sevy. He enjoyed playing sports in his youth. After graduating from Bonneville High, he went to Weber State University where he received his bachelor's degree in psychology. He worked at Ogden Regional Hospital until Weber Human Services offered him a job. He was a drug and alcohol counselor and helped many struggling people. He knew how to be a good friend and counselor while also being strict on rules and regulations. During his 24 years at WHS he was heavily involved in the following programs: PAAG jail diversion program, drug board, second chance good landlord housing,-,AT support services, audit compliance, and most recently overseeing the implementation of Stepping Stones, a men's residential program. He has impacted many lives over the years, leaving a great legacy of hard work, friendship, and compassion. He retired in 2024 when his health would no longer allow him to work.
Darren's number one priority in life was his son Brayden. All of his time and resources were devoted to Brayden who was involved in many activities. Darren did an impeccable job of keeping his son entertained and busy, especially as a single father. He made sure his son had every opportunity to try new things and explore any activity possible, including soccer, football, basketball, baseball and a long list of action sports. He always challenged Brayden to face his fears. Throughout sickness and health he never missed any of Brayden's activities, always showing support in every aspect of his son's life.
Darren loved to go hunting with his family and friends. He was usually in charge of the fire and loved to keep it big and roaring. Lake Powel was a special place that he loved to go -- somewhere he could get away from everything, relax and feel at peace.
Special thanks to those who helped Darren through his battle with cancer: Jacque Lloyd, Doctors Jody Miles, Tawnya Bowles, Jaden Evans, Alex Nelson & his special hospice caregivers Teisha, MaryKate, and Amy.
He is survived by his son, Brayden Sevy, his parents, Bill & Pat Sevy, his brothers, Chad and
Ryan (Becky) Sevy, and his nephews Payton (Chandlin) and Jayden Sevy with whom he had a very special relationship.
