Obituary

Darryl "Deedee" Celius, also affectionately known as Dee'Trick'em and Lil Nipple to those closest to him, was a light that shone brightly in the lives of many. Born on September 16, 1967, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana, Darryl's journey was one marked by love, faith, and unwavering determination. He was called home on September 25, 2025, in Ogden, Utah, having lived a full and meaningful life, though heart disease cut his time with us short.

As the beloved son of the late Gilbert and Anna Mae Celius, and the cherished grandson of the late Eva and Emmett Lamb and Douglas and Helen Davis Doyle, Darryl's roots were deeply planted in the values of family and community. He was a brother, uncle, and friend who left behind a legacy of joy and kindness, evident in the memories shared by his siblings, Gilbert and John Celius (with his wife Tanya), Darryl and Ronald Morgan (with his wife Shelia), Jacqueline Smith (with her husband Rhett), Linda Lewis (with her husband Gregory), Antionette Hayes, Eva Mae, Sherry, Angela, and Pamela Celius, and his sister-in-law, Paulette Morgan. He was predeceased by his loving sisters, Vanessa Singleton, Dottie Morgan, Joycelyn Ranson, Dorthy, Yvette, and Wanda Celius, and brothers, Hurist Morgan, Herbert, and Anthony Celius.

Darryl's education at Joseph A. Hardin Elementary and Alfred Lawless High School laid the foundation for his entrepreneurial spirit, which blossomed into his successful business, "Fresh Anointing Cleaning and Landscaping Services." His work was not just a means to an end but a manifestation of his belief in service and excellence. He was a man of faith, a devoted Christian, who lived his life as a testament to the values he held dear.

His son, Darryl Lodge, and his grandchildren will remember him as a pillar of strength and love, a man who embraced the joys of fatherhood and grandfatherhood with every fiber of his being. His aunt, Arthell Simon, godchild, Mentrelle Celius, and favorite niece, Kisha Celius, along with his longtime friend and ex-wife, Natashia Campbell, are just a few of the many hearts he touched throughout his life.

Darryl's interests were as rich and diverse as his personality. He relished in the simple pleasures of cooking, a skill he wielded with passion and flair. His conversations with his sister Pamela and niece Kisha were among his most treasured moments, filled with laughter and wisdom. He also found joy in the lively atmosphere of the casino, where he not only sought entertainment but also the company of friends and the excitement of possibility.

In the spirit of Darryl's motivational outlook on life, we remember the words of the great Helen Keller: "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Darryl Celius lived by this creed, feeling every moment with his heart, and inspiring others to do the same.

As we celebrate his life, we reflect on the countless lives he enriched, the smiles he created, and the love he shared. Darryl Celius was a beacon of hope and a testament to the power of faith and hard work. His memory will continue to inspire us, and his spirit will forever be a guiding light in the lives of those who were blessed to know him.
