Our loving dad, David Leon Haggerty, passed away on Wednesday, August 2nd, 2017. He was born June 17th, 1939, to Charles and Beth Haggerty, in Provo, Utah. He attended Danville High School in Danville, Illinois. He married Virginia Keller in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 1st, 1962. David lived a full and active life.
Upon graduating high school, he served as a private in the United States Army. After fulfilling his military duties, he served an LDS mission in London, England. Upon returning home, he graduated from BYU, where he met the love of his life, our mom, Virginia Keller. They soon became sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. David continued his education, eventually earning his Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Utah. He was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He spent his adult life, with our mom, raising six children, and working in his career helping his patients as a marriage and family therapist. He worked two jobs for much of that time to support us. In his spare time, David never sat idle. He was always busy with various church callings and home improvement projects. He was an amazing car mechanic, a skilled handyman, and had a little-known talent as a sketch artist.
As a man, he was soft spoken, level headed, very kind, and had an unrivaled dry wit. Above all, he served his family and his faith. He and our mom have been married for 55 years.
David is survived by his wife, Virginia; children, Camille Prescott, Dennis (Malinda), Michael (Michelle), Sheri (David Nutting), James (Lynnette), and Jennifer (Hal) Higgs; eight grandchildren; and brothers Larry and John.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Beth Haggerty; stepmother, Lenore; and sisters, Jo Ann Taylor and Susan Haggerty.
