David "Earl" Rees, age 98, passed away April 29, 2014 in St. George, Utah. He was born January 13, 1916 in Roosevelt, Utah to David James Rees and Dinah Thatcher.
Earl married Rowane Murphy December 3, 1933, in Upalco, Utah. This marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, May 24, 1939. They were blessed with three children. Earl and Rowane lived in Upalco, Utah until 1952. He was a rancher and livestock dealer while they lived in Upalco and continued this when they moved to Ogden, Utah. His wife Rowane passed away in 1961.
Earl received his real estate license after Rowanes death and was very successful in this, as well as, ranching and livestock sales. He enjoyed walking, riding horses, staying up on current events, visiting with friends and relatives; especially nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
On January 13, 1971, he married Faye Blackinton, in Yuma, Arizona. They retired and traveled the west; then settled in Las Vegas for 16 years. They moved to St. George, Utah in 1995, where he lived until his death. Faye passed away in 2009.
Earl is survived by his children, a daughter LaJean Cummings (L.J.) of Roy, Utah; two sons, Noel (Mary Ann) Rees of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Dexter (Judy) Rees of St. George, Utah; nine grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rowane, second wife, Faye; his parents, two sisters, Ramola Rees Rogers and Phyllis Rees Mitchell; two brothers, Oran Rees and Dee Rees.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at Leavitts Mortuary, 836-36th Street, Ogden. Family and friends may visit prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
Entombment will be held following at the Aultorest Mausoleum.
