Obituary

Debra Dickerson McKinnon passed away peacefully on September 15, 2024 surrounded by her loving husband and family.

Debbie was born on February 10, 1952, in Evanston, Wyoming, to Robert Paul and Donna (South) Dickerson. She was the second of four children in her family. Debbie attended Evanston schools and was very active in the music and pepster programs there. She later attended the University of Wyoming and Utah State University. Cowboys or Aggies? No question about it. Cowboys all the way!!!

Debbie met Ross McKinnon from Randolph at a dance, fell quickly in love, and was married 3 months later on June 8, 1973 in the Logan Temple. They made their home in Randolph, Utah, and were soon blessed with a beautiful daughter, Tanya. They stayed in Randolph for the next 39 years, where she helped Ross on their cattle ranch. She also worked for 23 years for the USDA Farm Services Department. She loved working in the ceramic and porcelain doll-making business she had built next to her husband's meat shop and arranging flowers for people in the valley.

Every spare minute of Debbie's time, however, was devoted to Tanya's rodeo queening and barrel racing events. The family traveled from one end of the country to the other following Tanya as she would ultimately become Miss Rodeo America. Tanya was Debbie's pride and joy!

Debbie was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served in many positions throughout her life including Relief Society President and many years as Choir director. She was continually asked to sing at funerals and weddings.

Debbie and Ross later moved to South Weber, Utah in 2012 to be closer to their daughter Tanya, her husband Matt and later their beautiful grandson, Bridger. Debbie became a loving second mother to Bridger after his mother Tanya was prematurely taken from this earth due to cancer. Debbie loved her time with Bridger, and she meant the world to him.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband, Ross McKinnon (South Weber, Utah), Son in Law Matthew Bartlett and grandson Bridger of Mountain Green, Utah; Sisters Linda Barker of Uintah, Utah, and Christie (Craig) Lester of Evanston; Brother Scott (Maschelle) Dickerson of Urie, Wyoming, and many nieces, nephews and close personal friends that Debbie truly loved.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Tanya McKinnon Bartlett, her parents, Robert and Donna Dickerson, In-Laws, Lynn and Willa McKinnon and brothers in law Nelden Barker, Brent and Doug McKinnon.

Services will include a viewing on September 22 from 6-8 p.m. and again for one hour prior to the funeral at the LDS church located at 2620 East 8200 South, South Weber.
