Debra Joy Stevenson Rodenbough passed away August 15, 2023. She returned to her heavenly home following a long battle with health issues.
Debra was born July 30, 1952, to Thomas A. and Mary Lou Stevenson, in Ogden, Utah. She was the fifth of seven children. Debra spent a lot of time in hospitals as a child and youth due to surgeries required from an accident as a child. Debra grew up in Ogden and attended Ogden City and Weber County Schools, graduating from Weber High School. Later in life Debra returned to school and received a certificate from the Ogden- Weber Applied Technical College.
Debra was introduced to Donald Rodenbough in Salt Lake City by a mutual friend Debra had taught on her mission. They knew immediately that they were meant for each other, they married in the Ogden, Utah Temple on January 12, 1978. They have four sons, Isaac [Heather], Micah, Matthew, and Andrew [Kassi].
Debra’s great joys in life were her family and her faith. She spent her life caring for her family, as a stay-at-home mother. She spent a lot of time taking care of her parents in their later lives. Some of Debra's happiest memories were caring for and spending time with her granddaughters Grace and Maia.
Debra was a valiant and dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ. She served a mission in the Pennsylvania Harrisburg Mission for the church. She loved her mission and would spend many hours telling stories from her experiences. She served faithfully in many callings including, primary teacher, building librarian, making the ward bulletin, cub scout den mother, visiting teacher / ministering sister, and Young Women’s President.
Debra was preceded in death by her parents Thomas A. and Mary Lou Stevenson, and brother Michael Stevenson.
She is survived by her husband Donald, sons Isaac [Heather], Micah, Matthew, and Andrew [Kassi]; her granddaughters Grace and Maia and her siblings Lynda [Fred] Zubal, Hollis Stevenson, Delaine [Michael] Burton, Thomas [Jane] Stevenson, John [Karen] Stevenson as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express thanks to the staff of the George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home and Bristol Hospice for their compassionate care in Debra’s final days.
A Viewing will be held Sunday, August 20 at the Rock Cliff Stake Center at 1000 Suncrest Dr. from 6- 8 p.m. Services will be held Monday, August 21 at the Rock Cliff Stake Center at 1000 Suncrest dr. at 11 a.m. all under the direction of Leavitt’s Mortuary.
Entombment at Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park.
