Dee Frederick Davis
November 18, 1925 ~ September 8, 2014
Dee Davis passed from mortality on September 8, 2014 at the Central Utah Veterans Home in Payson, Utah. Born in Denver, Colorado on November 18, 1925, he was 88 years old. He is the son of Dee Pontius Davis and Hazel Kinzie Davis, and the younger brother of his namesake who died as an infant.
Dee enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as a teenager and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds incurred during the WWII invasion of Iwo Jima. He raised and supported his family as an Air Force civilian employee. His employment took him and his family to Utah, Japan, California, Spain, and Crete. Dee was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints; he served in numerous capacities including Branch President in Crete, a Missionary ministering to the Hmong Community of the Merced California Stake, and Temple Worker in the Oakland Temple. He was loved by all for his engaging, cheerful demeanor.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life and eternal companion, Ila Briggs Davis, who died in 1975.
Dee is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law; Scott and Nancy Davis (Ft Worth, TX), Bruce and Robin Davis (Yuba City, CA), Carl and Roxanne Davis (Copperas Cove, TX), eleven grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.
A Sunset Graveside Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, September 30, at 6:30 pm at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park. 836-36th Street, Ogden, UT.
