Delores Faye Johnson was born on October 24, 1929 at home in Ogden, Utah to Vernal Nels Johnson and Thelma Elizabeth Anderson. She is the second oldest of 9 children. She had 3 sisters and 5 brothers.
Delores lived in Ogden all of her life and attended the same schools from elementary through college with many of her same friends. She attended two years of college in downtown Ogden at Weber State College. Later it became Weber State University at its present location on Harrison Boulevard.
Delores married Donald Joseph Deis on January 19, 1951. Don and Delores and their children were sealed in the Logan Temple on July 21, 1960. They were married seventy-two years.
Delores has been a faithful, life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings, including Relief Society President for two years. Delores and Don served a mission at the Ogden Bishops Storehouse for 3 years and another mission as Camp Directors at Camp Atoka in Ogden Canyon for several years.
Delores and Don loved camping. They started out camping in a tent, then bought a small trailer, a 5th wheel, and finally a motorhome. They, their children, and eventually their grandchildren camped all over Utah, including many of the National Parks throughout Utah and the West. They especially loved camping in the Uintas.
Delores retired from the IRS after working there for 30 years.
Delores is survived by her husband, Donald Joseph Deis; their four children, Lynda Kay Deis Jensen & husband Clint of Las Vegas, Nevada; Thomas Eugene Deis & wife Tami of Sandy, Utah; Steven Donald Deis & wife Teresa of Lakehills, Texas; and Paul Joseph Deis of Ogden, Utah. Delores and Don have 11 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren with one more on the way. Delores is preceded in death by 2 grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 3254 Polk Avenue, Ogden, Utah.
