Delores “Pat” Sackett's Obituary

Delores Pat Sackett passed away on July 28, 2016 with her loving husband and family by her side. She was born in Ogden, Utah on December 5, 1930, the daughter of George E. and Edith B. Williams. Pat graduated from Ogden High School and married her love, Lewis Sackett in Evanston, WY on April 8, 1950. Together they had four children (one was deceased at birth). On their 80th birthday they were sealed for Time and Eternity in the Ogden Temple. Pat worked several years for the Utah State Tax Commission in Ogden, making many friends along the way. After the passing of her mother, who had been stricken by the horrible disease of Alzheimers, she became a passionate advocate for the cause in the State of Utah. She was extremely successful in getting the first Alzheimers support group going in Ogden, and was very instrumental in getting other chapters up and running across the state. She served as a spokesperson and received calls from people across the country. Pat enjoyed traveling, golfing, going for rides and getting Green Pineapple Ice Cream from Farrs. She loved to engage in a good conversation with family and friends; sometimes taking the opposite side in order to add a little energy into the discussion. Her favorite place to be was either at home or at their beautiful cabin in the Uinta Mountains that her husband built for her. A sign on the deck that overlooks the entire valley reads Nothing except Love is so Universally appealing as a view. Pat and Lew were so willing to share their breath-taking view with all who stopped by, regardless if they knew them or not. Pat is survived by her husband of 66 years, Lew (or as she commonly referred to himSackett), her son Rick (Randi) of Wheatland, CA, daughter Sherrie (Christopher) Johnson of Pleasant View and daughter, Kathie (Joe) Allen of Layton. Pat was blessed with nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren who she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by a baby boy, her parents, George and Edith Williams, her brother Bob and in-laws, Clifford and Effie Sackett. Rick, Sherrie and Kathie would like to thank our Dad for the unwavering love and dedicated care he displayed for our mom until the very end. Our family wishes to thank the Rocky Mountain Care Facility and staff and the Rocky Mountain Hospice for their compassion and love shown to us and our mom while on this difficult journey.
