Delores "Dolly" N. Winegar Southard's Obituary

Delores "Dolly" N. Winegar Southard passed away peacefully Thursday, February 20, 2020. She was born October 15, 1930 in Naf, Idaho, the fourth of nine children to Charles Leo Nattress and Jessie Lee Campbell. She married Dean Winegar September 11, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Temple. They were later divorced. She married William D Southard, the love of her life, February 8, 1982. He passed away August 25, 1984. She is survived by her three children: George (Susan) Winegar, Julie A. Sawyer, and Catherine Winegar Hoffman; stepson Dale (Diane) Southard; brother, Joseph Nattress; 15 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dolly was quite the artist. She learned cake decorating and made cakes for friends, family and neighbors. She deftly decorated with roses. She made beautiful wedding and doll cakes. She also grew brilliant, beautiful roses. She later turned her talents to China painting and discovered a great passion for it. She won many ribbons because of her special abilities with painting. She was president for two years of the World China Painters Organization. She also judged the China Painting category at the Utah State Fair a few times. Dolly belonged to the Fort Douglas Country Club for many years. She enjoyed their bingo nights immensely. While living in Holladay, she also was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and volunteered her time. She also loved playing poker and bingo there as well. Dolly was a homemaker and worked during Christmas at Auerbach's, Salt Lake City. She attended Stevens-Henager, then afterward worked for Nationwide Ins. in Salt Lake, and then for Mountain Fuel. She obtained her real estate license in 1979. Dolly and Bill enjoyed traveling. She enjoyed playing cards, hiking, having family parties and barbecues. She loved the babies. She had much love for everyone. She loved fishing; it was something she did with her Dad. We want to thank Our House Assisted Living in Harrisville for the excellent care they gave her for the years she lived there. Everyone loved our sweet Dolly. We also want to thank the medical staff at Ogden Regional Hospital, as well Community Nursing Services Home Health & Hospice for the excellent care they gave our mom and for making things comfortable for her this last little while.
