Dennis L. Bateman died from Parkinsons on May 6, 2019 at age 87, surrounded by family.
He was born September 17, 1931 to Leo and Pearl Bateman in Richmond, UT and moved to Pocatello, ID. Dennis joined the USAF in 1947 at 16 years old, and was stationed in the Aleutians, Philippines, England, Japan, and stateside.
Dennis married Elaine Carter on March 20, 1955 in Pocatello, ID. They finally made their home in Roy, UT in 1962, and were active members of St. Peters Episcopal Church in Clearfield, UT. He served 37 years with the USAF as a civil servant, where he worked on the Minuteman Missile and Star Wars Program. He loved working on his 51 and 66 Fords and helping his grandchildren repair their cars, skiing with his sons, and driving throughout the US visiting family and friends.
He greatly supported the US military and was very proud of his two sons, six grandsons and one granddaughters service in the armed forces.
Dennis was preceded in death by his wife; daughter, (Gaye); parents; and eight brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his twin brother, Richard (Dick) Bateman; his older brother, Dean (Bud) Bateman; his children, LeeAnn (John) Berkman, Dennise (Greg) Morris, Dennis Bateman (Laureen Lightfoot), Laurie Bateman, and Kelly (Donna) Bateman; 17 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street in Ogden, UT. Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Leavitts with the burial service following at Richmond, UT.
