Dennis Frank Bednarik, 81, passed away at home February 26, 2024, after a long debilitating illness. He was born January 31, 1943 in Salt Lake City to Frank and Irene McClure Bednarik. He grew up in south Salt Lake County and graduated from Granite High School and seminary. He later attended Brigham Young University and worked as an orderly at University of Utah Medical Center.

He married Barbara Tate in the Salt Lake Temple August 10, 1967. The couple lived in Sugar House, Murray, Provo, and Sandy before moving to Ogden in 1976. They were blessed with four children. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2017.

Dennis worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Ogden for forty years, retiring in 2015.

He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at age 12 and was a devoted member throughout his life. He served in the Southern California Mission, which included Arizona and Nevada, and labored in all three states. He later served in various church callings, including as membership clerk and family history consultant. The son of a Czech immigrant, he especially loved to do genealogical research on his Czech heritage.

Family was the center of Dennis's life. Gentle, kindly, and a good listener, he was always giving of his time and energy. He loved unconditionally. He was upbeat even in hardship, and his conversation was enlivened by a dry humor.

He is survived by his wife Barbara; his children: Jennifer (Doug) Cook, Heidi (John) Blaylock, D. Mark (Rosalie) Bednarik, and Jeffrey F. Bednarik; seven grandchildren; and brothers Gerald and Steven. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother James.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 4, at 11:00 a.m., at the Memorial Park Ward, 3755 Porter Ave., South Ogden. Friends may visit from 9:45 to 10:45 before the services. Interment will be in the Leavitt's Aultorest Memorial Park, Ogden.
