Dennis George Taylor, lovingly known as "Uncle Dee," passed away on April 4, 2026, in Ogden, Utah, at the age of 71. Born on May 16, 1954, in Pocatello, Idaho, Dennis was the youngest child of Fay Morley Taylor and Dora Grace Weaver Taylor. He grew up in Ogden, where he attended Ogden City Schools and graduated from Ogden High School, class of ‘72. He remained a proud alumni and supporter of Ogden High until the end.
In 1977, Dennis married Marolyn McLendon. Together they raised two sons, Mac and Joshua. They later divorced but Dennis remained a devoted father and grandfather. He cherished his family deeply and had so much fun spending time with his grandchildren.
Dennis built a fulfilling career as a janitorial supplies’ salesman for over three decades, starting with Peerless Products, where he was a dedicated employee. He later became a valued associate at Home Depot, serving for over 20 years. His work ethic and dedication were evident throughout his professional life. Beyond his career, Dennis was known for his resourcefulness as a handyman and his ability to “know everything” in just about every facet of life. Dennis was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
In his younger years, many hours were spent working on his ‘63 Falcon, and many other cars and trucks - a true passion of his. Dennis made so many valuable friendships through men’s and co-ed softball leagues, bowling leagues, Raptors games, the Kiwanis Club of Ogden, the Ogden Executive Club Association, and many more social and professional activities.
Dennis was a man of many passions. He loved hunting, camping, golfing, bowling, playing softball and watching sports, especially baseball. When he was unable to attend his grandsons’ sporting events, he cheered them on from home, often sending text messages of support. He watched their baseball games on GameChanger religiously and didn’t hesitate to text his post-game report.
He was a true social butterfly with a sharp wit and infectious humor, with an ability to connect with people wherever he went. He had so many friends from all walks of life.
Dennis held a special place in his heart for the pets he had over the years. They brought him great companionship, most recently his beloved German Shorthair Duce. Duce was always by his side, Dennis sharing his food with his spoiled pup and the two watching old Westerns together.
A proud member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Dennis lived a life rooted in service and love for others. Family meant everything to him. He inherited a green thumb from his mother and took great pride in maintaining the garden at the home his parents built themselves, which he lived in - a place that held special meaning to him. He especially loved his irises and peonies, which he often took to his mother and father’s grave.
Dennis is survived by his sons, Mac (Heather) Taylor, and Joshua (Becky) Taylor; his grandchildren, Aiden, Brennan, Darien, Hudson, Alexis, Dylan, Chase, and Bowen; his great grandson, Aksel; his siblings, Pam (Paul) Hodson, Gaylene (Ron) Wehrle, and Randy (Kaylene) Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fay Morley Taylor and Dora Grace Weaver Taylor.
Dennis will be remembered for his large personality, loving nature, quick wit, knowledge of all things, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness and humor, albeit sometimes crass.
May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th St. Ogden, Utah. Friends may visit with family on Thursday, April 16, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the same location.
