Desiderio "Desi" CandiaOn January 28, 2012 our loving father, son, brother and uncle passed away from this world into the next. Desi was born on December 10, 1947. He was the eldest son of Santos and Senaida M. Candia. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1965. He married LaVern (Lupe) Hernandez in 1968, they later divorced. He entered the Navy in 1969 where he served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1971. Desi was employed at Hill Air Force Base for 37 years where he retired as a Production Support Chief in 2004.He loved retirement and spent most of the time golfing with his son and compadres. He loved and treasured every moment spent with his children, family and friends; who will all dearly miss and forever remember him. Desi is survived by his children, Tracy Candia, UT., RaNae Candia (Mike Minwell), NJ., his mother, Senaida M. Candia, UT., Rosemary Candia Howard (Steven), NV., Pamela Candia Hernandez (Bernie), UT., Frank Candia (Berlinda), CA., Rebbeca Candia, UT., 12 nieces and nephews and 16 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Santos Candia, brother, Gabriel Candia and sister Mary Madeline Candia. Family will greet friends Friday, February 3, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, where a Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m.Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Josephs Catholic Church 514 24th Street. Interment will follow services at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park.
