IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dj
Rowe
April 24, 2005 – April 19, 2024
D.J. Weston Rowe, of Hyrum, Utah, passed away on April 19, 2024, in Tempe, Arizona, at the young age of 18 after sustaining injuries in a motorcycle accident. Born on April 24, 2005, in Ogden, Utah, he was the cherished son of Dan and Janette Rowe and the loving brother of Rosalee Gran and Krystal Rowe. D.J. was sealed to his parents in the Salt Lake City Temple on December 10, 2005.
In his early years, D.J. attended Snowville Elementary until his family moved to Cache County in 2016. Then he attended Millville Elementary, South Cache Middle School, Utah Virtual Academy (UTVA), Mountain Crest High School, and Skyview High School. D.J. was eager to finish his high school years, so he was able to test out of his credit hours and graduated early from Cache High.
When D.J. was 14 years old, he was provided the opportunity through UTVA to go on a class trip at the end of the school year to Washington D.C. and New York City. D.J. obtained employment with McDonald's in Hyrum, Utah, to begin saving money to pay for part of his trip and to have spending money. Unfortunately, he was not able to go on the trip that year due to Covid. It was not until 2 years later that D.J. finally got to go and experience the trip of his lifetime.
D.J. was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was ordained as a priest in the Aaronic priesthood. He was active in the church, attended two different trek activities, and loved the high-adventure back-packing trip. D.J. was known for his kind heart, infectious smile, and the twinkle he had in his beautiful blue eyes. He made friends easily and was very compassionate towards others.
While living in Snowville, D.J. had goats and rabbits that he cared for and participated in showing at the Box Elder County Fair with his 4-H group, Curlew Critters. He also participated in cub scouts and the scouting program where he earned several merit badges.
D.J. had a passion for sports, especially football. In his youth, D.J. participated in wrestling and played little league football for both Bear River and Mountain Crest. D.J. played on the Hyrum City recreation soccer team and you could find him outside shooting hoops in the driveway. When D.J. was at Mountain Crest High School, he joined the football team where he played wide receiver and safety. He held the number 24 on his jerseys until his junior year when another player already had that number. So, that year, D.J. wore number 34 on his jersey.
D.J.'s other hobbies included listening to music, especially rap; watching movies, especially when he worked at Megaplex in Providence, Utah, because he could get free tickets or watch the prescreening of the movie before it was released to the public. He also worked at Kohl's in Logan, Utah, as a seasonal employee.
After graduating early, D.J. found employment with Maple Springs Assisted Living where he worked as a caregiver. He wanted to get his CNA and take classes in college to become a sports medicine doctor or physical therapist. When he moved out of Cache County, he found employment with Mt. Olympus Rehab in Sugar House, Utah as a caregiver.
Early in April 2024, D.J. decided he wanted to spread his wings further and moved to the Phoenix, Arizona area. He was getting ready to start work in May 2024 at Victory Pest Defense. While in Arizona, he met Kyle Sikes, and they became friends quickly. D.J. stayed with Kyle and his parents, Kathy and Ken Sikes, until his housing started with his Victory Pest Defense job. It was in Arizona where D.J. bought himself a motorcycle to have for transportation. He was so happy to finally have a fresh start on life. He would call home often to tell his mom how beautiful Arizona was. D.J. was living his best life and trying to figure out how to be an adult and on his own.
D.J. was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edwin and Judy Rowe and Dawna Tourangeau and his cousin, Brandon Birch. He is survived by his parents, Dan and Janette Rowe; his sisters, Rosalee (Christian) Gran and Krystal Rowe; his nieces, Brynn Keller and Wren-Lee Gran; his nephew, Valak Gran; and his grandfather Phil Tourangeau. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
