Obituary

Don Neve Kamerath, loving husband, father, step-father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away Monday, September 26, 2011 after a hard fought battle with Lewy Body disease. Don was born September 18, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Katie Neve Kamerath and Herman Edgar Kamerath. Don grew up in in Salt Lake City and graduated from East High school. He excelled at all athletics, lettering in baseball, football and wrestling. He served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1951 and fought in the Korean Conflict. Don loved sports and the outdoors. He was drafted by the New York Yankees Farm Team at age 17 but chose instead to enlist early in the US Army to protect the country he loved. He was a very hard worker and took pride in everything he did. He owned his own carpet business for several years (until his knees started giving out) and then went to work for Browning Firearms Company in sales representing the Southwestern Region of the United States. He was later promoted to the position of National Sales Manager for the United States and Canada. After 25 years, Don retired from Browning and moved to Oregon to become the Sales Manager for Bag Boy Golf Carts. He later went to work for SKB Shotguns, he never could bring himself to retire. He loved Oregon and resided there with his wife Carolyn for 23 years, enjoying golf, tennis, hiking, cross country skiing, fishing and hunting. One of his favorite hangouts was the Gun Club where he frequently taught hunting and gun safetey. Don also served in many callings in the LDS church which included: Teacher, Sunday School Superintendant, High Priest Group Leader, Bishops Counselor and temple work. He had many friends and admirers and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Don was devoted to his family and loved taking them on golfing, camping, skiing, hunting, river and deep sea fishing expeditions. Just a few years ago, he was dubbed the oldest bungee jumping, zip liner at Mount Hood Adventure Zone, out performing some of his grandkids in the "no fear" factor. Don married Darlene "Pat" Parkin in 1950 and together they had 3 children: Craig, Connie, and Danny. They later divorced. He later married Sandra "Sandy" Wray. They later divorced. On June 22, 1994 he married Carolyn Gailey Gren and on June 22, 1999 they were sealed for all time and eternity in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Don is survived by his wife Carolyn, his three children and five step children: Craig (Miaqui) Kamerath, Connie (Harvey) Cox, Danny (Carol) Kamerath, Lisa Gren, Troy (Ann) Gren, Teisha Zanone, Suzanne Gren, Ember Gren, and his brother Bob (Marjean) Kamerath. Don is also survived by his two beloved grandchildren, Evelyn (KZ) Emery and Michael (Valerie) Emery and fourteen step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren who he loved like his own and they all loved and adored him as their grandpa. Don was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lillian "Toots", brother Ray, infant stillborn twin brother Bob and one step grandson. Funeral services were held Friday, September 30, 2011 at 3:30 PM at Sandy River Church (16317 SE Bluff Road Sandy, OR). His memorial service will be held Tuesday October 4, 2011 at 11:00 AM in The Old Rock Church. (10 West Young Street Morgan, Utah) where friends may visit one hour prior to servives.
